Hexagram #10 - Treading Carefully

Moving to Date 5/27/98
Unchanging - The is some question about your values. You may be overly opinionated and lost in decorum in regard to the object of your inquiry, or you may be all together too indiscriminate in what you allow to influence you. In order to make progress you must now bring some equilibrium to your tastes Top Line Fifth Line 3/15/07
Fourth Line - Stepping on the tiger's tail. Panic, panic. The end is auspicious.
If you are doing something big or dangerous, then first of all make sure if it makes sense to do it. Risk your life for a real goal, but if the goal is not big enough, then it is better to be a scaredy-cat.45 3/14/05 Third Line - You are not suited for the ambitiousness of your goals. Your powers are not adequate. Willfulness on your part could end in disaster (58) 45 3/14/05 Second Line
Maintain an ambience of modesty and moderation. Do not harbor expectations or demands. Do not get involved with the dreams of others or hold overly ambitious goals. In this way you will meet with good fortune (25)6

3/14/05Bottom line
Your work has reached a stage of completion, and it's time to count your winnings. Only by assessing the results of your past efforts, can you know what to expect in the future. The farmer who harvests healthy crops in the fall can safely predict a prosperous winter. This is clearly the Joyous dancer who treads the dance of the time. The joyous dancer is Dui (The Lake) being inspired by the rising energy of Qian. This is the ritual dance which invites in the inspirational energy (Qian) that harmonises one with the Dao, by force.
People of ability find their way, and make progress even in difficult circumstances. Consider your steps carefully when you are surrounded by powerful forces. Weak and strong forces (or people) can co-exist when the weaker element does not impose upon the stronger, when the weaker maintains good humor and avoids taking bold action. When treading among sleeping tigers - or slippery stones - step gingerly; and don't stumble.
In the company of strong, brash people, rushing wildly ahead brings misfortune. Now is not a good time for taking the initiative; rather, try getting by with a little grace and good humor. In the court of a powerful king, the jester often has more power than the prince.Wednesday May 27, 1998.
Question: The underlying issue I'm exploring here if what to do with an untenable situation.
-- should reach a temporary resolution tomorrow but economic necessity still makes dramatic moves impossible. Got #10 unchanging. The changing line would imply that I was at fault in the situation and that maybe true, but the essence is that I thought I had agreement on both what and how things would be done and it appears that I don't have that agreement. Under those circumstances other than trying to be a team player I really don't want to play because it doesn't serve me at all.
Note: I love how I ask these questions and then don't record the real outcome which defeats the purpose of tracking these readings. I got sent packing back to my home department, which means in basic parlance I was fired from the assignment.

Question: The readings for the situation at SIP seem to describe O. better than they do SIP
10 - Treading Carefully Moving to 6- Conflict
An opportunity that looks very interesting to me is coming up consistently negative in these enquiries. In reality there are no apparent negatives or issues that out weight my perceptions of the circumstances I'm currently dealing with.Note: I never did really understand why the negativity but I turned down their offer in June of 99 after having pursued it. I view this as a road not taken, though based on some personal signposts I may have been warned that whatever difficulties I've had with the big O would have appeared in this environment. In my 2 score plus years I've learned that some things in life really are karma or wyrd and that they can not be escaped no matter how much we might wish to the contrary. I realize that this statement flies in the face of 90% of conventional western thinking but it fairly reflects my interpretation of my life experiences

Question: Should I call CB and see if there are any opportunities this year?10 moving to 45
this is the second time today I've gotten 45 as the ultimate outcome (see 19). This says to me that this is not the path to the goal. This is too much like what I don't want and can be a frying pan to the fire situation.
Note:3/15/07 - not even a clue what I was thinking about with this one. can't place CB and can't place the circumstances. Obviously it never came to anything.

Question: Asked what advice the iching had for me in approaching LR with the Analyst firm (the hiring manager and high mucky muck"Snowy tiger smiles
As the Earth silently spins
Blue sky, frozen lake"10 moving through line 4 to 61.
After digging around the web looking for various interpretations -- the one that seems to be the most right on the money is the fear that one feels when one is proposing marriage to a partner where there is a fear of rejection. In many ways a job situation is much like an arranged marriage -- there needs to be a commitment but that commitment is based on a value proposition -- Does the perspective spouse shows off well enough and will she work enough and bring fruitfulness to the relationship in sufficient measure to make it worth of making the contract. From the point of view of the wife is there security and freedom from harm and will the off-springs of the union be treated fairly.
8 Libra: A blazing fireplace in a deserted home
I read I number of interpretations about this meaning but what finally came to me is that there is energy already in place (warmth and light) that is waiting for someone to appreciate it. this can be a reflection of the job or a reflection of me. It can also be an open invitation to come tend to the fireplace.
In hexagram 10 one is in a position which requires decorum and the following of the socially 'correct' path. This is not a time for deferring but more of submitting to the situation through a degree of balance (decorum/proper conduct) without moving from one's personal position nor making one's desires apparent; forced reflection whilst we walk in the confines of our environment
(Note that the restraint is externally imposed whereas in this hexagram's complement , hexagram 15, the restraint is internally imposed (words+facts))
Changing line 4
"One's position requires persuasive skills to accomplish things. This can be dangerous but ultimately one succeeds."
He treads on the tail of the tiger.
Caution and circumspection
Lead ultimately to good fortune. This text refers to a dangerous enterprise. The inner power to carry it through is there, but this inner power is combined with hesitating caution in one’s external attitude. This line contrasts with the receding line, which is weak within but outwardly presses forward. Here one is sure of ultimate success, which consists in achieving one’s purpose, that is, in overcoming danger by going forward.
"Line 4: Centering and Connecting (61) – This is another major influx of energy from another key site. This time it is energy which centres and corrects that influx from line 3. It is the opened heart. Here the purpose of the journey through the Tiger’s forest becomes a little clearer and perception of matters become more balanced and settled. The nature of the great person met in this line is indeed that of 61"
