58-Joy 12/11/97 Fourth Line
Allow your limitations to become natural extensions of your behavior.   Accommodate and adapt yourself to the fixed conditions in this situation.   Don't carry on battles over "the principle of the things"  Deal with the matter at hand and you will meet with success

    Bottom line

Do not go to extremes or try to take on too much.  In this situation, you must decide for yourself what your limitations are.  Keep the balance between wanting too much and being willing to settle for too little.  If your are too fearful to make a move, nothing can be achieved.  But is your are over-ambitious, you could fall flat on your face.  Decide where your responsibilities lie.  Make a commitment to them.  Do not expect more of yourself than you know is realistic.   And don't demand more of others than they are capable of giving.  Be discriminating in your approach to people.  do not be over-friendly on the one hand to too reserved on the other.

What will be the ruling hexagram for this solar year

Got #60 limitation going to #58 Joy.  My first impression of this was somewhat negative.  After all who wants to hear that the year will be one of limitation.  Checking the interpretation in a number of books I began to realize that potentially there is much more here.

4/28/98 Note:  To date I've ignored this advice and I'm paying the price.  "Deal with the matter at hand and you will meet with success" The sad thing is I'm not sure what I could have done differently.  It makes me very nervous that there may not be much free will in certain matters.  The question then becomes what good is the knowing if it doesn't change the experience.

10/11/98 Note: How depressing.  If there was any possibility of Joy I didn't find it last year.  Professionally it had to be one of the most frustrating experiences of my life.

1/04

Do you know of anyone else who can get so fixated on a career that when the i-ching says there is joy elsewhere it doesn't get reflected.  I got married that year to a wonderful man who I love.  Sometimes I need to have my head examined.
