The Naming of Names

I wrote this for my own dedication ritual but I think that it offers a good example
of what you should be aiming for yourself.  I invoke my dominate element which is air
and I invoke the powers of my three primary companions on my inner journey,
the snow leopard, the snowy owl and the dragon.

 

A dedication ritual - to be done at Imbolc

In this time of the Dragon Moon, I will speak the secret of the self hidden from view.
The naming of names and the claiming of powers.

I am a witch of the east wind
Mine is the power of the dancing word
and the cloud painted sky.

I am a witch of the south wind
Mine is the power of the searing insight
and the breath of fresh air.

I am a witch of the west wind
Mine is the power of the sail filling breeze
and the clear, charted course.

I am a witch of the north wind.
Mine is the power of the song of the trees
and the gift of fertilizing pollen

I am a witch of the white wind
Mine is the power of the snowy owl’s flight
and the clarity of it’s vision

I am a witch of the white wind
mine is the power of the snow leopard’s silent gait
and I walk the path of knowledge

I am a witch of the white wind
Mine is the power of the white dragon’s heart
And my name is Wind Dancer.
