October 15 -Nov 10
October 15th
Left for Boston for a meeting. We got up in the air and then they turned the plane around took us back to our departure airport where we got to try again. Made a long flight ever so much longer (about three hours)
Picked our friend up from the airport (he'd waited the 3 hours for us to land) and went to dinner. Nice evening but we were tired to begin with
October 16th
Board meeting -- this actually went better than I expected we got through our first draft of mission and vision in one day and I think we all felt good about the work we'd done.
Another group dinner and our host's wife joined us. I've known him for years but never met her. Liked her and I think we were all impressed that she was such a strong woman.
October 17th
Actually did some real work today. Or at least laid the foundation for doing some real work. We're investigating professional certification and I understood why we were so far behind after today.

Every board meeting ends with a bottle of good wine. This was a shiraz from Southern Australia - it was wonderful
Family dinner with my brother and his SO plus my cousin and her husband.
October 18th
Quick flight back but we were exhausted
Rescued one freshly groomed puppy from the kennel
Had a meeting with my partners to try and decide what our business development strategy is. Problem is we need to get results not just talk
My girlfriend brought by some clothes that don't fit her anymore and I was happy to take them. I still hope to get another 10 lbs off but I'm right between sizes at the moment. She had a lovely grey suit that is exactly my style and some slacks. The blouses didn't fit because I'm never the same size on the top as the bottom.
October 19
I think we both have been pushing too hard. Decided to take the day off and become couch-potatoes.
October 20 (wednesday)
did a reading and got 26 moving to 18
October 21
Spent the day working on the first draft of a presentation.
October 22
Called in and got my hair appointment moved up form the 5th. Since I've got a speaker engagement coming up I might as well look presentable
The woman in the florist department in the grocery store handed me a rose for no reason. It was a lovely single stem and it's lasted forever (it's still perfect on the 31st)
October 23
Went shopping to get some blouses for my new suit. Actually got lucky and found 4 that I liked.
Did our evening out with friends - dinner and a movie. Dinner was less than great at a place we normally love and the movie (the Bourne Supremacy) was disappointing. But as always the company was great so who cares.
October 27
Spent the day getting collateral developed. Pushing paper takes way too much time
Writers Group. Reviewed SGD's presentation for his talk Thursday night. It was good. We only recommended a few changes.
One of the most impressive Lunar eclipses I've seen in a very long time. We kept taking breaks from our meeting to go check it out.
October 28
Flew to CA. Then spent the evening finishing up the collateral for our meeting on Friday.
October 29
Did a presentation. I was disappointed with the whole experience. I really need to make a decision as to what I should be doing with my life. I got the feeling that I might have gotten some business out of the deal except for the company I'm keeping
Late flight home. I was exhausted as usual
October 30
Ever watch 7 year old girls play soccer? It's an interesting look at the competitive instinct. Its a very aggressive sport and you either have the willingness to mix it up or you don't. It was the final game of the season and they won so that was a good thing.
Seems a little early for a hail storm but that's what we got. Also rain and wind.

Went to a friends house for dinner. Delightful time.
Did a mini champagne tasting. With the current exchange rate between the Euro and the dollar our normal bubbly is just getting out of reach. We'll probably be switching to California sparkling for a while.
October 31
Actual sun this morning. After the last week or so this is wonderful especially since I checked the rain gage today and it's got another 3 inches in it
I should be outside enjoying the sun instead of updating this journal but I've gotten days and days behind. Not sure that 2004 is a year worth recording but since I've started I might as well keep it up.
Rainfall stats for the month are over 7 inches. Turns out that rainfall is very variable for this area. Everett, our official weather site is a couple of inches lower than normal and we're 5 inches more than they are.
November 4
Spent some time on Chapter 8. Not sure why put I've added an 4 page scene to the beginning of the chapter.
November 6-7
Completely redesigned a presentation for a business associate. So much for my weekend.
November 9
Our speaker cancelled for tonight ant RK and I had to throw together something for a meeting with about 4 hours notice.
The meeting went off all right. But attendance was much lower than I expected
November 10
Talked to a new potential client today. Hope things work out for us.
