Journal

This is an experiment in keeping a record of what's happening in my life.  In the class I teach on journaling I would call this a chronicle - it's intended to focus on the events of day to day living rather than deeper emotional issues.  I've kept a journal off and on since 1982.  Some years it's fairly in depth and recently it's been virtually nothing.

January 15

Planned to go to a Sci Fi convention but after only being there an hour a friend called and said either I saw him now or he would be gone and I'd have to visit him in Texas.  Needless to say I left the conference and headed home.

Ended up doing an informal New Years celebration with friends.  Tried out two nice bottles of $20 dollar Borolo.  Fun evening even if we were all tired.

My Personal Astrological New Year.  - Readings

It was interesting to do some of the same readings this year as I did last year.   The strongest energy seemed to be around the I-ching.  I got 34 -- Great Vigor.

January 16

Spent most of the morning working on the readings I got.

Went out briefly with friends to help them pick a new home entertainment set.  TWI was responsible for keeping the husband from spending too much money.  It was interesting to watch the dynamics between the couple.  The wife kept out of the decision feeling that since her husband was the breadwinner it was his decision.  I on the other hand was there throwing my two cents in every chance I got.

January 17

Hate to admit it but all the Christmas stuff still isn't packed away.  I was out of town so everything just got cleared to the dining room and living room until I got home.  Since TWI and I needed to do some work for our club we needed to reclaim the dining room first.  Took about 3 hours and there's still stuff left in the living room.

Finally got to work on rewriting the competency I promised.  Finished up about 8:00

Rain, rain and more rain but at least it's warmer

February 2 - Imbolc

What a beautiful day.  It really was spring.

Phil saw his shadow this year so button up that overcoat.

February 5

Secular society moves all holidays to Mondays - Pagans move all holidays to Saturday.  Small family ritual.  A white dinner and then we all made pictures of what we creative project we wanted to accomplish this year and invoked Brigit's help.  the kids really enjoyed playing with the stamps to make their pictures.

February 9

The Narvik Sun Pageant is held annually in northern Norway on this date to honor the Sun Goddess, Sunnu. The festival  begins at first Sun and continues until evening shadows darken the sky.

February 13

Small family party --

February 14

St. Valentines Day  - we didn't do anything special this year.  Just too exhausted.

February 15

Hit the wall in frustration about my doctor.  I needed a prescription refilled and he wouldn't do it.  Anyway I finally decided to take control of the quality of medical care I've been getting and I started making appointments

February 16

Saw a new doctor today - He's terrific.  I think things may be looking up

Went back to my writers group - didn't have anything to read

February 17

Got an appointment with an allergist.  I refuse to go through March like I have the last two years.  It was a good morning and then an absolutely terrible afternoon.  So much pain.

February 18

Sun Enters Pisces
11:50pm PST

Went to a restaurant for our delayed Valentine's day dinner.  Turned out to be outstanding.  The wine was the biggest hit.  A retail $20 pinot that went with the salad, the entree (a delicious veal) and the Grand Marnier flan.

February 19

Went out shopping, found some pots we liked and went home to measure

February 20

Went to the home show.  Long day with lots of walking.

By the time we got back to the store the pots were gone..  Oh well guess it wasn't suppose to happen

February 21

Decided to try and sort some stuff in my office.

February 22

Bad, Bad day.  Gave up and went to the Doctor at 5:30.  More pills codine

Nice dinner at a new Japanese restaurant.  It's right down the street and the food was great.

February 23

Spent the morning cleaning - Things look better than they have in weeks.  Also the medication made me feel a lot better

Got an email about a possible new client today and actually got a PO for some work that I didn't think would develop.  Half day presentation on a dull boring subject to a client that knows it's dull and boring but needs to come up to speed anyway.

Spent the rest of the day finishing up some software reviews for a meeting tomorrow.

Beautiful full moon tonight.  We would have done a bonfire but there was a smog ban on open fires.

February 26

no sleep and stomach is killing me.

February 27

still sick but RK and I had signed up for a class so I went anyway.  I keep trying to figure out which of my half dozen new pills is making me so sick

One bright spot was I got 2k words written this morning.

February 28

sick again today.  Decided to just give up and stay in bed.  KJ called and finally cleared my mind.  It's not the medication -- it really is the flu. Actually started turning the corner at around 3:00.

My goal was to rewrite 4K words today.  Didn't quite make it but I got to about 3.5k  Also did some edits on RV article that is due Friday.

first day we've had rain in close to two weeks.  Up here in the Pacific NW we're bordering on draught conditions.
