2nd House Journal
2005

My second house goes from March 2 (11Pis37)  until April 10th (21Ari22).  The contents of this journal are never predictable.  Some years it's just a sentence or two and some years it's much more.  You'll also find many of the entries beginning with a small graphical tag.  I'm experimenting with how this will impact the journal.  Basically without reading an entry I can go through a house and find what stands out to me visually (group activity, travel etc)

March 2005-Overview - from Alphatrends
March is universally a ONE month, opening the door for new ideas, new directions, new energies. Mercury and Pluto turn retrograde, Saturn turns direct and Mercury and Sun join together to bring another tidal wave of information and change onto our shores. To look at things in more details, we find that Mercury turns retrograde in Aries. Because Aries is the instigator, innovative and the Alpha Dog of the zodiac, each of our leading ability will go through a revision. We have our directions and we have our inner connection. These two must have an alignment that must blend together to bring our inner and outer together. Since March is a ONE month, it is time to move into new directions, have the confidence to go forward and carve our new path. Pluto turns retrograde in Sagittarius, which empowers more Sagittarius qualities. Pluto also rules fear until we conquer the fear to address the underlying issues and ultimately empower the solutions to be brought forward. Pluto moves through only a few degrees at a time, which takes anywhere from 13 to 20 years to go through a sign. Pluto turning retrograde will move back over issues from December 7th, 2004. This allows our fears to be addressed and ultimately to become our iron clad strength. Saturn turns direct, ready to resolve our emotional world and to improve the areas that Saturn has been identifying as those weaker links in the chain. This movement of Saturn will be the last lap of Saturn through the sign of Cancer and will ultimately complete our emotional house cleaning experience in mid July as Saturn moves into the next sign of Leo.

March 2

The start of my second house

The group reviewed the first part of my paper.  Tremendous feedback.  .They have been working with my long enough that they actually understand what I do for a living and can help

March 3

Flew to a client - bad trip - thought I lost my cell phone (luckily it turned out I left it at home).

March 4

Put in a full day at the client - and theoretically am getting paid for this.  really liked them and hope that it turns into more work.  Also I finally got my first check in the mail for work I'd done for another client in Dec.  This was my first trip to a client in Las Vegas.  WG through me into the situation with absolutely no warning and I think I pulled it out.  The client needs a better way to track all their projects.

Long flight home.  Watched the first episode of 24.  the advantage of making our own DVDs off of TIVO is that its a much lighter drain on the battery,  Also reading the Narrows by Michael Connelly.  I think he's been a little off his game in the last couple of novels but this one is good.

March 5

Mercury enters the "Shadow" period when it first crosses the point of its final retrograde station.  What that means is if Mercury goes back 20 degrees during its retrograde period the shadow period will begin when mercury first cross that point.    We can think of the full cycle as: Front-end Shadow, Retrograde, Back-end Shadow. From experience, it is clear that Mercury-ruled matters start getting weird some time during the Front-End Shadow, and continue being weird into the Back-End Shadow.

Hex 38 line 5

Basically my partner and I are pulling in different directions.  I really felt like I had defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.  Oh well I'll pull it out somehow

March 6

Took RM to the rock show.  Got a nice jade dragon and a couple of crystals.

spent some time working up the information that needs to go into the bid and did some review of material for another co-worker.

TWIM and I also had a bit of stressful day.  We did very well on creating a project plan for all the work that needs to be done on the house but seems to keep cycling around on control issues.

March 7

Got some rewriting done very early - only a net gain of 100 words

Took the dog for a walk and then gave him his first home bath.  We'll see if this works out -- he seems to need a bath more often than any other dog I've every owned.

March 8

The Dark Moon

Called my brother and wished him a happy birthday

Hectic day - tried to finish up a business case for a client and catch a plane to their site to present it tomorrow

March 11

Spent the day at the clients location.  Our 8:00 got moved to 1:30 and then 2 hours reduced to 40 mins.  How they end up booking the business.  They seemed positive.

March 12

Checked on tile and exterior lighting.  Didn't come to any conclusions.  The grannit tile is a possibility but the edging and the backsplash concern me.

Dinner with the family.

Talk about once in a blue moon.  When I got home from dinner I saw a message from a former significant other from a long, long time ago.  I last physically saw him in April of 89.  15 years is a long time for someone to hold to a relationship but I'm really not surprised.  I did it to myself actually.  A couple of months ago the fleeting thought that he never troubles my thoughts crossed my mind.  I don't think being forgotten sat well with him.  Anyway getting an email from him after all of these years doesn't really surprise me.  I'm easy to find (at least virtually) and my email hasn't changed from the last time he tracked me down (a month after my wedding).

Not sure what's going on in his life but after all of these years I can at least listen.

March 13

Worked on my paper and then took TWIM to the airport.  semi-productive day.

March 14

computer crashed and took about 5 hours of work with it.  This is the third time in as many weeks as this has happened

Tarot Reading for today New freedom will be found through resolving restrictive conditions or getting out of an oppressive commitment. You will be feeling restricted or boxed in by particular a relationship, but you are actually in a protective (spiritual) box so you won't be diverted from your higher purposes. Don't blame yourself for the faults of others. Walk away or say no.

Spent the day contemplating my navel.  Not sure I ended up resolving anything -- I'm pretty sure I'm going to take the advice and walk away.

did a number of I-ching readings around my relationship with my business partner.  I got 19, 61 and 10 in answer to my questions.  19 and 10 both moved to 45

March 15

This morning's meditation with Cerridwen spoke to the need for balance and the fact that the two in the tarot all had special lessons.  I was born on the second.  Married on the 2nd and my husbands birthday is the second.

March 16

The writers group reviewed part two of my paper - this is hard slogging for them because its actually fairly technical

March 17

I'm not sure I've ever seen a more powerful mercury shadow period.  Every single thing that is suppose to go wrong during the retrograde has already gone wrong.  I just heard that my major client is saying the paperwork is wrong and they can't pay the bill.  Since this retrograde is in my second house -- it's a clear example of financially based miscommunication.

March 18

Sent off my briefing.  Not the best thing I've ever written but we'll see where it goes.

March 19

Mercury Retrograde at 4:15 pst at 14º Aries

Mercury is retrograde in Aries for the next three weeks-  from March 20 to April 12 in my second house of earned income. Individuals who are self-employed may experience delays in getting paid. Invoices may be lost or checks might not show up.

I hope this isn't true -- I did a lot of work for a client in January and I'm still waiting to get paid and cash flow is getting a little dicey

The last time Mercury was retrograde in Aries, in April 2004, was probably difficult, too.

But last year it was in my third house and was completely centered around getting the family together for the memorial

So get the jump on Mercury retrograde this month by sending out reminder invoices for any payments that are due you. You may need to examine your personal spending and your financial situation as a whole for Mercury here turns retrograde in opposition to giant Jupiter. Pare down your expenses. Look at your budget. Target what you really want and work for it. This is not a time to waste money on accumulating things for their own sake. Don't make major financial decisions at this time. They could prove costly. Review matters. Start again. This cycle ends on April 12th.

Here are the areas ruled by your second house:

Money and possessions, Financial security Investments, Saving
Valuing YOURSELF
Raising your self-esteem and self-worth
Creating from your personal resources
Discerning the real worth of things
Taking care of your possessions
Loving and sensing yourself, and the worth of your life

March 20

Did a equinox party. It rained too much to do anything outside but we put the Incredibles on for the kids and polished off a bottle of champagne.  I made a special punch with blackberry brandy as well and I think it left everyone feeling as if they'd had a touch too much to drink.  Just champagne next year.

March 21

Doctors appointment - he threw up his hands and said the rheumatologist would have to deal with it.

Met with the gals and started a combination of two classes I just to teach.  Mostly we discussed the goddess archetype we most strongly resonated with.

March 22

The rheumatologist said he didn't have a clue especially since I was feeling so much better.

Finished up an article for one of the magazines I write for.  Also got some editorial comments on a piece I was suppose to co-author with RV.  In this case co-author is an exaggeration I  really didn't -- normally I do tons of editing work and this time -- I've flaked.  Also finally finished up my blurb on the conference.

March 23

Got a note back from my editor that the piece I sent was definitely too long (now they tell me) and that I shouldn't stress since the earliest they can get to it will be the second week in April.

March 24

meeting with a client to review work I'd done for them.  Went well and we'll schedule a day to review it with the staff.

Feeling a little overwhelmed with everything on my plate.  The class, the conference, the new client.  Not getting as much done as I should

 Moon at 5°18 Libra

Sabian Symbol:

A man watches his ideals take concrete form before his inner vision

The moon was buried behind clouds so I hasn't able to see it.

Had dinner with some business friends. We both really like them so it would be nice to move it to a personal relationship.  I've promised to invite them over to the house for dinner and then we'll see where it goes from there.

March 26

I’m in a cabin by a lake, which I either own or am about to own.  In the past the cabin was owned by a woman who hung a red light out periodically.  It’s modern times and the red lantern was far in the past but it was still a known part of the image of the property.

I believe I’m with someone in the house but his presence seems to fade in and out.  Two young men come up to the house and barge their way in.  They know about the houses reputation and they tell me they’re glad they can be my customers.  Rather than cower in fear, I turn on them and tell them to leave the house now.  I tell them that their behavior is atrocious and I won’t tolerate it.  In the dream they decide they really have made a mistake and leave without any problem.

I feel very empowered in the dream – as if I have taken back something that was mine – my power—the house, it isn’t clear but the feeling stayed with me even when I woke up.

Not really sure why I'm labeling this a silver dream instead of just a cooper but it felt significant.

Went by the fabric store to look for something for cornices and new seat covers for the dining room chairs.  Also picked up some storage baskets for the hall closet.  While that may sound minor it's a specific item on our task plan -- when we got them home they actually fit perfectly but we realized we needed one more.  Also the fabric we picked out was nice but too bland.

March 27

Cleaned up the sewing room.  Every time I turn around it becomes a repository for everything in the house that doesn't have a place to go. Decided to move the rocker from Mom into my office and to get rid of my old rocker.  It makes both rooms nicer

Spent Easter with the extended family.  Very nice day

March 28

Flew to Southern California to meet with two different clients.  Hope it will get me some work.

March 29

Took on the task of cleaning the house.

March 30

The writers group met at my house.  Went over two manuscripts.  An interesting insight from this meeting was what do you do when the muse deserts you?  A woman in my class is struggling with finding something that will cause her to catch fire again the way she was writing in the 80s.    I think I've been rather insensitive to what has been really going on for her.  I've just been telling her to get back to work and to quit dorking around.  Once I took a deeper look I wonder how much of her dilemma I share.

March 31

Back to work on the paper.

April 1

Finished up the changes and cuts to my writing project and sent it off to RK.  Also got an earlier draft back from a friend with lots of possible changes.  Also wrote up something for the non-profit I work with.

I'm feeling a little frustrated about a client that was very anxious to get going and now seems to have dropped off the face of the earth.

Knock down-drag out with TWIM.  We just fought for hours about scheduling our personal time

April 2

Completely missed Clancy's birthday, which is particularly bad since he got a call from his favorite terrier asking if he wanted to go to the dog park and play.  Oh well I guess we win the bad parent award, especially since I notice that I wrote the same thing last year.

We got to storage at the crack of dawn and then did some shopping in the afternoon.  Ended up finding another possible drapery fabric for the dinning room.  Now its gone from a cornice to roman shades.

Nice dinner out at one of our favorite Japanese restaurants

April 3

I actually was awake at 2:00 to set back the clocks (not deliberately of course -- just an odd circumstance).

Went out to run errands again -- most importantly to get Clancy a little raincoat.  For a place that's having a draught we've had close to 5 inches since the 1st of March.

Went from the mall to a furniture store and spend several hours looking at more fabric.  Found some nice things but they didn't work out when we got home.  Still looking....  TWIM did start putting up the light in the dining room (we bought it well over a year ago.  He didn't get it finished but I'm hoping it will look nice when its done

April 4

Finished the paper AGAIN.  Actually added some new stuff that I'd wanted to add all along and I think it's good enough to send in.  Still have to write the briefing.

TWIM came home with a new wheeled backpack for me.  The other one is dying and the one I found to replace it was $380 -- which is just too much money.  This one is a little large but it comes with a matching suitcase and for $100 for both it will do the job for a while especially since it looks like I'll be on the road most of April

TWIM finished the light in the dining room - What a tremendous difference.  I have always hated the other light.  The new one is both a fan and light and the paddles are shaped like leaves.  I then hung up Mom's fan painting (which I will need to get a print made of --since the original goes to my youngest brother) I think it will do fine.

Finally got the check from a client.  It's almost 80 days and I admit that was getting a little long.  Still haven't gotten the check to cover the expense reports but this will keep the wolf from the door.  Clearly mercury retrograde in the second house slows down money.

Did another discussion about the goddess in our lives.  I think we're all too busy to get a lot our of it.

The assignment I had given was to list 18 things

April 5

Updated this diary most of the day.  Shouldn't be doing it but for some reason I've notice that I'm forgetting things and losing track of what I do with my day.

Talked to a client and did a software demo.  The client is with a PMO for a mortgage lender down in Southern California.  He's involved in some interesting political situations as to what the role of his organization should be.    Hope this works out -- I like this client.

Got a note that they were ready for my briefing again.  Sent out the main part and then got down to work on the summary.

April 6

Sent the summary out and declared myself done.  This has been the most nerve wracking project I've ever done.

Got back to work on some stuff for a client and began developing a short course.  I've claimed that this course was in existence for four years and I've never developed it.  I'm not sure this just in time approach is a sound one.
