April 11- May 9

Week of April 10

Crazy time -- keeping WF on track and trying to get RFW kicked off and going until MM can take it over.

PB is getting ready to move this weekend -- when we agreed on the date it seemed we should be close to done by now.  Of course we aren't and things are getting crazier.

Did a good meeting on Thursday about how we should be handling maintenance programming -- invited the senior developers so we could get some real world input into our discussion.

Week of April 16th

So PB is leaving for Southern California and FR has resigned and now WT has resigned. We'll definitely miss him but most of our staff is young and this is a natural progression.

Ended up working on a project for GEC.  I'd said no but not loudly or forcibly enough.  I'm afraid this is going to take a million hours.  Especially since I'm not really sure how to approach it.

Met with a perspective consultant to help us with our IP -- seems knowledgeable but I'm not sure the chemistry is there -- we're a very tight knit group.

RK made the decision to sell the house.  Paying taxes took all the available funds and being liquid is a necessity.  Gave them Fiona's name so I'm comfortable that this will all happen.

I guess I thought we were skipping Easter this year.  As John says we have so many holidays that I was voting for limiting our calendar.  Of course that was silly of me.  We went over to RK's house for dinner -- we brought lamb and she cooked chicken.  Given the changes for all of them (selling the house we got through the evening remarkably well.

Week of April 23rd

Most of the week at work was tied up with working on defining competencies and then introducing a new source control process.  Just a normal week in the fast lane.  If I had any personal life I don't remember it.  We did start back to work on our web site.  Not sure why it takes so long.

We did go and look at a number of other offices that were available for lease.  Obviously we all liked the one at Yarrow Bay the best but I'm not sure it will stay on the market long enough for us to really consider it.  We did find a reasonable space right up the road that would meet all of our requirements -- it was a little dark but heck we live in a cave now, and it was definitely a step up from our current digs.

Week of April 30th

John's caught some terrible bug -- he is rarely sick but this one is a doozey .  I'm a little concerned that

Traditional 8th wedding anniversary presents have a theme of porcelain

We went out to Matt's for dinner.  We might do something fancy later but right now this is good.

May 5th -Left for Boston on an early flight.  Stayed with Kris and Bob -- it was great to see them as usual.

May 6th  the start of the conference.  Attended part of a morning session and then worked on the risk piece I owed to Mark

Went to Karen's house for the annual cocktail party.  I sat next to CB on the bus and had a very nice chat with him.  Did my ego a world of good.  He told me that he had recommended me to replace him as editor of one of the offerings because I was the only one who got "it"  It isn't true in the least but it made me feel great.

Week of May 7th

May 7th

the first day of the conference.  It's good to be back with people who care about the same thing I care about.

Did Dinner out with Bob and Kris as I usually do on Monday night.

May 8th

the second day of the conference.  CB asked me to help out with the luncheon session -- again flattering.

The book signing -- RV joined me and we had a nice chance to get to know SC.

We left the book signing and ran across the street in pouring down rain to have dinner with Karen and her husband the "historian" and RV's wife.  Lovely evening with wonderful company.
