Hate to admit it but I simply found that I couldn't stay in the office one more minute. 
I went over to Redmond town center to catch up on some shopping and to stop by the bookstore. Had a nice lunch at an Indian restaurant and then ended up talking to PM for almost an hour.  She asked if I would act as her mentor.

Wine Tasting -- every couple of months John and I have been hosting a wine tasting with the folks at work.  This time we decided to do Sauvignon blanc.
We had 7 bottles of wine, some New Zealand, some California and a couple form Washington.  As is no surprise the group split pretty evenly as to those who liked the grassy wines from New Zealand and those who liked the oak/chardonnay style that Robert Mondavi first made famous.  This is going to be the last open invitation I do.  I decided that it was better to just invite people who liked wine tastings than the whole office.

 

September 30th

 

Decided to do my birthday reading a little bit early.  I spent some time chatting with one of the guys I work with and it become clear that that I really needed to spend sometime understanding what comes next in my life.

Turned out it was FJ's birthday at the office and he generously shared his cake with me.

Got my hair done.

October 6th

Took the day off and flew down to California.  We got to the hotel and there wasn't anyone there.  John initially couldn't reach anyone to find out what was going on and then finally it turned out it was the 26th and not the 6th.  We both decided that we have been under so much stress that a weekend away was the best thing that could have happened. Decided to go up to Napa and go through the discount malls and then have a nice dinner. 

We stopped by Heitz right before they closed and had a fairly decent Zin.  It wasn't as robust as we like them but the man at the winery said that big spicy Zins are out of fashion.  Everyone wants something that tastes like a fruity Merlot.  We decided to push our luck at the restaurant and the $42 bottle wasn't even really a Zin.

October 7th
Did the Sonoma wine country -- the quality was better and the prices actually more reasonable.  One of the surprises was the Korbel rose champagne.  We had tried something similar at Vin 100 but it was 38 a bottle - this was 12.  I'm going to have to track it down.

Just back from Boston.  Decided to work on my solar return.  Found an interesting comment that said when the Sun transits the solar return 10th house there will be good stuff happening.  Decided to check it out with last year's solar return.  When I checked it against the North Carolina return it didn't track at all.  When I tracked it against a solar return chart done for home it seemed pretty accurate. So the way it works is run a lunar return for the month the sun is in the 10th house and then see what day the moon crosses that degree in the lunar return.  Sounds like complete hocus pocus to me but in this one case I was at the conference and I did feel I was truly having the sun shine on me for my professional work.
