The Plain
of Fire
You step out onto a sandy desert. In the distance you see what looks to be individual bonfires. As you work towards them you see that they're all of different sizes. You begin to wonder what this might mean when you feel a presence behind you. You know without turning that it's your dragon companion. You feel an intense surge of relief that you don't have to go through this experience alone, and you hear a gentle laugh in your mind chiding you for your foolishness to think you were ever alone.
You both continue walking toward what is rapidly becoming a sea of varying sized fires and this time you articulate your question. Why? What are they? What do they represent?
Your companion answers that here on the Plain of Fire each person keeps their life energy, but here bigger isn't really better, because big flame only get that way by stealing life energy from others.
As you get closer you notice that some fires are burning cheerfully in a controlled fashion while others seem to whip out and threaten to escape their circle. As you look more closely you see that circle isn't really the best description of all of what you see. Some of the larger fires seem to be burning in odd shapes and they seem to have a number of smaller fires much closer to them than the other "more normal" flames.
Now that you are close enough to make out your surroundings you realize that the landscape is populated with groups of fire with a stretch of sandy bareness or rocky hills separating each group of flames. You turn toward your companion in the quest for more information.
"Each one of these groups is a "karmic" clan, for lack of a better word. There are about 500 individual fires to a clan. We're here with your clan so you can find your own fire, which if you're interested is over this way.
Your dragon companion points the way ahead and you proceed with some trepidation, though you notice that most of the fires you're passing by all have well defined shapes and have well controlled flames. Your companion points out a rather smallish blaze with a somewhat informal shape and tells you that your are now looking at your own personal life fire. "Not too impressive" you quip.
"I don't know.. considering where it's come from I think it's rather impressive." Your companion directs your sight to a point a short distance away and you begin to understand what has happened with your life.
(Please tailor the following section to more closely match your own situation. )
You see the remains of what was a huge bonfire. You can see that at one time the fire must have come very close to consuming a number of individuals, but it seems that it burnt out before it completely consumed anyone, though that little half fire still flickering at the far end of the remains might be better off classified as consumed. You then look down at the ground and you see that you must have dragged your fire away to have avoided being singed worse than you were.
You turn to your companion and ask, "How does one drag a live flame? Did I get burnt doing this?"
"No, but I will tell you that you did it the hard way. You also weren't careful where you moved to the first time, so you had to move twice"
Following the direction the dragon is pointing in, you see what must have happened. You some how moved your fire away from the first threat only to find that you moved directly into the path of a similar danger and what a danger it is. Where the first fire is burnt out, the second blaze is large and based on it's irregular shape has voraciously been consuming the life energy of others.
"That was pretty stupid wasn't it? And it looks like I barely got away the second time. In fact it looks like I didn't get away whole, did I?
"No you didn't and that's what's scared you so much. That's why it's been so much worse the second time then the first."
"Am I stuck with this little blaze I've got?" You kick the dirt in frustration and silently bemoan the lose of chunks of your life force that others have appropriated." You look back at the raging bonfire you escaped from and realize that your words could be misinterpreted. "Don't misunderstand, I don't want to take anything from someone else. If that's the only solution, I'll be happy to stay as small and scraggly as this the rest of my life." After all, you think to yourself, you've seen the havoc others have wrecked and you'd rather die than do the same.
"No, you can build your blaze back up to decent sized conflagration. You were fortunate that you had a rather large fire to begin with, so while you won't be able to be what you once might have been you have more than enough fuel to burn as long and as brightly as you need to, in order to accomplish your work on the earthly plain."
You look toward your fire and try to get some idea what it's using for fuel, but before you can get too far with your perusal, your companion answers your unspoken thought.
"I call it spirit sterno. Imagine white spirit light that hardens up, and is flammable. That's what burns here."
"Are there different energy sources? Or different types of fires? What I'm seeing here doesn't seem to match with anyone else's vision."
"Actually it does, after a fashion. The ancient Celts only believed in the equivalent of three chakras and the first was the cauldron of warming. The modern mind has broken things down into smaller bits so everyone has a slightly different take on the subject. Your understanding is close enough to serve our purposes. Now look around you one more time and tell me what you see."
You give a small sigh. "I see I'm safe now even if part of my mind still doesn't believe it. All these fires look very well behaved and I'm far enough away from any of the large blazes that I doubt if they have time to reach me in this life time."
"Good, so every time you want to hide your head in the sand you know can remember this vision and know that while life might singe your fingers at times you're not going to get consumed in someone else's blaze."
"How do I add more fuel to my fire? Is it something we do here?"
"No. That's another secret of the puzzle. Fueling the fire is something you do on the earth plain by channeling spirit to your perineum Chakra which then channels the energy here. Climb on my back and let's get home so I can show you how to do the channeling."
(Return to where ever your home base is in the other world, for me it's a small virtual Weyr built in from the ledge of a mountain.)
You companion lands back at your normal spot and you slide of his back. "Have we time for me to wash off the this sandy grit?", you ask.
"Of course, and put on your white gown/clothing."
Several moments later you reemerge from the bathing chamber. dressed in white, and walk over toward the sleeping couch. "What next" you ask.
"You go get some white light fuel of course. It's quite simple. Your Soul Chakra produces white light. You just need to collect it in your perineum Chakra and from there it will go to the Plain of Fire. It's why people are always talking about channeling white light even though half of them don't know what they're doing or why."
You lie down on the couch. "All right, white light" You reach up toward your Soul Chakra and are instantly surrounded by sparkling whiteness, which slowly begins solidifying around you in an egg shape. Instead of feeling panic at being confined, you instead find that it feels as if you're being wrapped in the Mother's arms. "
"Feel the light lock into the perineum. Imagine the light as a ship that's docking with the mother craft." When you've heard the click in your inner ear. Rest for a moment and feel the safety. You've just found the spiritual equivalent of returning to the womb."
"I'm in an egg. I'm an egg with legs." You laugh. "This shell of white light. It seems gossamer thin from my side but my guess is that it doesn't appear that way from the outside."
"It's closest to rock from the outside. It's why people talk about protecting themselves with white light. In the right circumstances it is good protection. But it's the equivalent of wearing armor. You wouldn't want to do this all the time."
You slide the end of the egg down until you connect it to the point below your feet that some people call the earth chakra. You now exist in your own little white world. Safe, warm, secure but completely isolated from others. You move the bottom of the egg back up again to the perineum and begin taking in the whiteness. You feel the top of the egg open as you continue to pull the whiteness into your self. You feel it pass through the chakra and into the plain of fire and you realize it wasn't a place you went to, but another dimension.
You sit up and look at your dragon companion. "How long will that energy last?"
"About a week"
"Do I need to do this every week for the rest of my life?" Continuity isn't one of your best attributes.
"Is it worth it?"
"For a one or two minute exercise, I should hope so. It's just that I've planned to do some many things and then not succeeded."
"You always succeed with the really important ones and you know it. Come on. I'll take you back to the dolman so you can do the last part of the healing."
Knowing you can't dragon ride in a thin white gown you run to change your clothes. In a moment dressed once more in a much more practical manner you climb up on your companion's back. "What else should I do, when I get back?"
"Mix up some elixir. A little Elm, I think, definitely some hornbeam, some aloe vera, some self-heal and a drop or two of Indian Pink ought to do it."
"And I suppose I have to look them up to find out why I'm mixing it?"
" Of course, you know dragons love to ask riddles not to tell answers.
You both laugh as your companion wings you toward your otherworld portal home. You've learned a lot and you feel like your truly are on the way to feeling better, more secure and truly having more energy.
