Meeting at #10 Mardoll

April 6, 2007

Much to my surprise I've been coming to the apartment regularly since Cardea talked me into claiming it.  It just feels more appropriate than the isolation of the house in Nglas.  In fact it feels so comfortable and so natural that I'm wondering if it does reflect some change in my thinking.  I decided to come last night because I'm actually quite frantic about what's to become of me if I don't get this job.  It's always hard to hear no when there isn't another path open to head down.  Cardea and I settled onto the couch to talk about what would make me feel better.  She suggested I pull a tarot card and I did.  I first got the King of Wands (the adder) but that didn't mean anything.  I next pulled the two of swords but again that wasn't the answer.  The third card was the Hermit and that absolutely was the right card.

I looked at Cardea and told her that I needed to go visit her father Aeolos.  I stood up and Cardea reminded me I couldn't go empty handed.  I nodded and she said "bring him cigars, he loves cigars".  I buzzed Francklin and asked if he could bring me a box of cigars.  I had to stop for a moment and see if it was morally proper for me to ask Francklin to do this rather than going to acquire them myself.  After all is it a gift of any value if I did purchase it?  Francklin was almost insulted with my train of thought when he walked in with the cigars.  Making sure I had what I needed was his job and making sure I did what was right was his job and I simply needed to get with the program.

The conversation then turned to the best way to visit the cave.  In the past Cardea had taken me since she knew the shortcut, but if I was going to go on my own that would not have been appropriate.  I said I'd ride Cie but that didn't seem quite right either.  It was finally agreed that Menet would take me, which he vigorously agreed with, pointing out that one of the reasons I'd agreed to live at #10 was that the rooftop garden had room for a dragon to land.

The next few minutes conversation was around choosing appropriate attire.  I'm not sure why but clothes matter much more here than I would have expected.  As I'm talking to Francklin and Cardea, I also have a background conversation going on with Menet.  It seems he is positively overjoyed to come to Mardoll House and to see Francklin.  I comment that he never paid any attention to Evangeline and he commented that he liked Francklin.  What I noticed out of this exchange was that saying he liked Francklin wasn't a backhanded way of saying something negative about Evangeline.  He just simply liked Francklin very much.  I have to admit that when one's dragon makes a point that you've entered into a relationship with the "right" person it's grounds for sitting up and taking notice.

We all finally agree on my outfit.  It's a soft suede camel colored split skirt and jacket, a purple blouse and a tie at the neck that includes all the colors I'm entitled to wear.  The skirt has detailing on the side seam so that it can be tightly fastened around the leg (to make dragon riding easier).  As I'm getting dressed I decide that I also need to bring some oranges and I debate if I should also bring some wine.

A few minutes later Menet has arrived, I'm dressed and I'm on my way to the cave of the winds.
