Visit to Athena

May 28, 2004

It's been years since I journeyed directly to the conference room, but I needed to speak with Athena and I wasn't about to wait.  Nothing had gone the way I'd expected it to go in the last year and I didn't like the look of the future.

Athena awaited me as calm and serene as she always is.  She appears as a blond to me (not historically accurate but that's how I see her.)

"I thought I was retired.  Why am I feeling like that isn't true?" I asked

"Because it isn't.  You've been on sabbatical but now its time to come back so that we can get on to the next phase.  Didn't you wonder why you never got your key?  Why all the energy just seemed to disappear?  You weren't ready after all."

"Isn't it possible I wanted to make another choice?  That I had made another choice?"

"No.  Even when you take up the black you will still be mine."

She sat at the conference table completely sure that she was right and that I would come to her way of thinking.  In general I understood that arguing with a Goddess wasn't the most productive of activities, so I decided to try capitulation as an alternative strategy.

"So does that mean you'll find me work I like?"

"If you'll have faith and follow where I lead -- yes."

"So can you please get up and start leading?  I'm ready to follow right now."

"What if I tell you that you've forgotten how to work that hard?  It won't be easy.  You'll need to do some things that you might think are beneath you."

"And I didn't just spend a week and a half studying for a stupid test?  I think I've shown I'm willing."

"Then get back to work and have faith.  I can and will provide."
