Silence. Primal Creatress of Gnostics, who said Silence was the Mother of the Great Goddess Herself. Out of Her was born the first Word, the Logos of Creation.EARTH of AIR (silence) - hollow, still, memory imprint echoes - Here we are looking for deep enclosed forest, hidden from view and outside sounds, maybe a cave, certainly safe and protected. It is a place to become aware of nature and the voice that speaks through conscience. It is a place to listen from. It is a place to listen to. It is a place of warmth in a cold unsheltered world. Be quiet. Enter the Silence.
As with most journeys to the lands; your dealings here will fall into three types. A simple visit where you leave a calling card and maybe have a cup of tea. A longer visit where you have come to learn something. I view these visits rather like taking a continuing education class, and finally a desire to advance in the knowledge of the wind wherein one commits to come as a novitiate. Outside of extremely rare circumstances, the earliest you can apply to become an novitiate in this wind is around the age of 50. Of course that shouldn't stop any one from coming to call. The ladies at the back of the North wind have a number of interesting lessons to teach centered around the power of small actions.
Both Air and Fire have a tendency toward the large, the dramatic, and the obvious. Subtlety is rarely our strong suit, so when we begin to realize there might be other ways to handle a situation it's time to come study with the Ladies at the back of the North Wind. The wind is known as being devoid of extensive power which is true but that says nothing about extensive influence or extensive effect. This wind brings no praise and no fame no matter how well you master its lessons.
You will know that you have truly learned the lesson of this wind when you are able to change a situation and no one would ever even think of crediting you with making that change happen.
Thoughts to Ponder
Even the small and seemingly insignificant can have the power to restrain and control great forces, but such restraint is a very delicate matter and requires great finesse in order to pull it off. It is not a time for significant action using great force, because great force is being held in check by the prevailing powers. Therefore, a person must use the only things available to him: gentle persuasion, good humor, and diplomacy.
The wind, continually driving the clouds together, finally brings rain. But this success has been achieved by cautious advance, not precipitate action. It is not wise to pursue such actions further. The moon represents the darker powers. When it reaches fullness it is already on the wane. One must be content with what has already been attained.
